Review of Tabloid (2011) by Joe H — 13 Feb 2014
This documentary has a cluster of ideas all thrown at you at expert pace and toys with your emotions from start to finish. Tabloid contains, Southern beauty queens, mormons, kidnap, Sex, courtroom drama and cloning.
.. Its entrancing to watch, partly because of the main contributor, Joyce, who is such a character its practically impossible to take your eyes and ears off her. The contrast of opinion and story between her and the tabloid papers version of the story is also nice, leaving you as an audience member sitting on the fence, which gives a sense of intriigue, almost like its a murder mystery.
Its not all perfect though, there are moments that are made out to be much more dangerous than they really are and the end product, although comes full circle somewhat still doesnt feel like the ending we deserve, however bizarre it is.
Despite its minor short comings, Tabloid is a fantastic watch and a strongly recommended one at that.
