Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Mark H — 10 Jan 2010
A messy masterpiece. I think. I need to see it again to make sure! Maybe. Anyway, the examination and deconstruction, or is that reconstruction, of what it means to be alive, as described here by Charlie Kaufman here is as deeply compelling, as it is confusing.
Criticism is easy due to the bloated self-indulgent, and towards the end recursive, nature of the film, but that would miss the genius that is on display here. 8/10 on first viewing.
