Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Josh S — 21 Jan 2010
This is indeed one of the more bizarre and depressing films I've ever seen. But, knowing Kaufman, this is not so hard to conceive. Amazing concept, amazing performances. Screenplay is absurd but compelling with mixes of unpredictable but welcomed humor and grotesque details.
Overall theme--tough. Either I had a hard time responding to it, or the message was too artificial. Either way, still a remarkable piece.
