Review of Synecdoche, New York (2008) by Heather C — 15 May 2010
I typically love anything written by Charlie Kaufman ... and then came Synecdoche New York. Despite fantastic performances all around, the first 100 minutes of Kaufman's script and direction were pure pretentious torture -- but those last 20 minutes? Sublime filmmaking.
Just gorgeous. Wonder what a different director could have done with Kaufman's story. Maybe I'll give it another try someday. (2 stars).
