Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by Juan J — 08 Dec 2009
The only time the characters emote, finally escaping their veneers of inscrutability, is when there is blood involved. This means that the violent outbursts are doubly exciting--because of the action and because of the sudden transformation of the characters. This also means that much of the movie between the scenes of outbursts is doubly boring--because of the ugliness of the settings and because of the uncertainty of the characters' motivations.
I'm glad I watched it once. I'll likely never watch it again.
