This early effort for Park Chan-wook in making revenge films falls short on his later movies in the Vengeance Trilogy. The movie tends to run slow at times and is much quieter than "Oldboy" or "Lady Vengeance".
This is still quality cinema from an excellent director, I just don't think it's PCW's best.
