Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by Nate M — 21 May 2008
I can't find words to describe this film. "Masterpiece" just doesn't cut it. The title is so perfect; before seeing the film one is unsure just what it actually means, however it becomes clear as the end-credits role. One cannot comprehend the concept of empathizing with every main character in a film, yet with the passing of each beautiful scene, one is less and less sure just who one should be connecting with. A circle of vengeance leaving one unsure just how to comprehend who is in the right, blurring the lines between the good guys and the bad.
This film is pure, horrifying brilliance.
