Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by Sharon W — 28 Jun 2008
Story-wise this is the best of the trilogy. If it could clearly be compared, I don't see why this could not the best of the trilogy. Because it's a bit more set in reality than Old Boy and to be honest the only reason why Oldboy gets so much more credit is because:
A. Its the one most people saw first.
B. Its more about style than story.
C. And most likely, because of main character's newly realized personal issue.
This movie works better because it relies more on the story and characters than style and violence as a character. This one actually stuck with me all the way.
