Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by Ramesh . — 11 Sep 2008
A thought-provoking and applicable film about human nature and what can happen when people are driven to desperate measures. A very adult film, if I can say -- not that it was overfilled with cursing, violence, sex or nudity, but just that from a pacing standpoint, a plot standpoint and a complexity standpoint, it was a film made for more mature viewers.
The latter act of the film works amazingly well, using various techniques to fill in holes in the story. Saying too much would give away major plot points; suffice to say everything is not as it seems, but there is no twist ala "The Sixth Sense.
" Rather the new information just serves to underscore the tragedy inherent in the plot. Really wonderful.
