Review of Swordfish (2001) by Octavio M — 05 Nov 2013
I'm all for dumb and loud action movies, just as long as they are executed competently. In the case of this movie, however, I kind of guffaw at the notion that these filmmakers would count on its audience to believe in a realty that is so exaggerated, so inept of that needed touch of realism, that every other effort put forth by this movie is simply tedious. Unfortunately for the filmmakers, audiences weren't that gullible into buying into this over saturated reality. I mean, c'mon! I love it when a group of Hollywood big shots fail in portraying something as abstract as computer hacking and cyberterrorism. It was just so implausible.
Its of no consequence that producer Joel Silver was desperate in replicating his success from "The Matrix" all while trying to keep up with the success of his contemporaries like Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson.
