Review of Swing Vote (2008) by Matt D — 22 May 2009
This movie was weird. One minute I was hating it, and then out of nowhere it would get good. I think the best way to review this is a pros/cons list.
PROS:
-Madeline Carroll, the little girl in the film, is absolutely amazing.
-Some comedic moments at the expense of the presidential candidates.
-The main plot is delved into almost immediately, and explained with extreme detail and caution.
-Kevin Costner's final monologue is extremely moving.
CONS:
-Kevin Costner is not the best at delivering comedy.
-Way too long.
-Constant referral to the plot as being "strange" and "weird" becomes annoying.
-One of those movies where way too many coincidences come together to create a story.
-WAY too predictable.
And finally...the ending. I have no idea whether to love it or hate it, but I'll leave that up to you to decide.
