Review of Swing Vote (2008) by Daniel W — 14 Oct 2009

Loved it! Maybe its because Costner plays his role so incredibly well, or maybe its because Madeline Carroll is terrific. I think its b/c the two of them remind me so much of my own upbringing (even more so with my sister). Although I have read some reviews claiming the movie isn't as funny as it was marketed, I disagree. So much of the funny was really based on the make believe button, so if you don't have one this movie isn't for you. Actually, if you don't have one what are you watching movies to begin with?!?

I am not a crier at movies but for how close the relationship of Molly and her parents reflected my own, it pulled something in me.

I am not sure if the movie accomplished its goal of getting people out to the vote but hopefully anyone who watched decided to become more aware of "the issues".
