Review of Swimming with Sharks (1994) by David T — 19 Nov 2007
Whaley is slightly forgetable in this film as is Forbes possibly because they were both so supremely and completely upstaged and outshone by Spacey's performance. We have all had bosses that were ever so slightly similar to Spacey's character but none so downright deliciously despicable.
Though I have to say Spacey still managed to give the character a vulnerable edge (his over-reliance upon his assistants to organise his personal life, the hair ointmant he was obsessed with) which is so difficult with sucha character.
The direction for this film it has to be said was not the best but a brilliant film nonetheless possibly down to that one performance alone.
