Review of Swimming with Sharks (1994) by Jesse O — 05 Mar 2012
Frank Whaley, overacting like crazy, plays an ambitious assistant to an abusive studio executive (Kevin Spacey) in this stilted satire of the motion picture business. The events of the movie are predictable enough, but things get out of hand whenever the plot mentions the absurd and unintentionally silly kidnapping ploy that serves as the central narrative device.
Spacey gets a few good moments in his role as the villain, but overall this film is a rote exercise that is not worth seeing.
