Review of Swimming with Sharks (1994) by Robert B — 24 Jun 2008
Twistedly funny. Fans of Kevin Spacey will not be disappointed, as he gives his trademark strong performance. While Spacey's best work usually has his character being meek before becoming strong, this one works in reverse, and it still is a great display.
While Frank Whaley never turned into a sideman that many 90s movies had him pegged, his gives best performance in his biggest showcase. Giving somebody a paper cut on their tongue? Brutal. But the comedy balanced with a serious message about power makes this a compelling piece.
It is on Spacey alone.
