Review of Sweet Smell of Success (1957) by Rebecca N — 07 Nov 2010
Classic film noir that would prolly bore most anyone under 30 to death. It's more about "real people" than fantastical or exaggerated characters and man are they ever cynical and bleak. Tony Curtis is great and this was one of the first roles he had where he really got to show his chops as an actor instead of just a pretty boy, although that is attacked in this movie along with much else.
Burt Lancaster is cold and sinister, one of his most villainous roles.
