Review of Sweet Charity (1969) by Ryan L — 20 Nov 2011
Fosse! I'd never heard anything about this musical before, which may have artificially enhanced my enjoyment of Sammy Davis, Jr. as a hippy minister and the insane Club Pompeii dance sequence. It's overly long and Shirley MacLaine can't sing (yet does almost all the singing), but I was dazzled nonetheless.
Super groovy cinematography from Robert Surtees. Watch for Bud Cort at the end.
