Review of Sweet and Lowdown (1999) by Robert W — 09 Nov 2009
I really love this film because I feel as though it is so different from Woody's other films. Sure it has the "look" of a Woody Allen film, but I feel like this may be one of the first Woody films where you learn more about the characters through their silence rather than their talking. The performances of Sean Penn and Samantha Morton are first-rate and the main draw to this flick.
And the music--its worth watching the movie just to hear the music. Its so incredible. The soundtrack is definitely worth a purchase.
