Review of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (1982) by Tyler S — 03 Jun 2008

This PBS made-for-tv recording of Sweeney Todd is a homerun. Judging by a theatrical stand point, the set is unique, the actors are brilliant, the music is beautifully orchastrated, and the voices that carry the music are phenomonal.

These factors make the plot suceed in almost a perfect manner. The fact that it was filmed makes you feel like your seeing the play yourself (minus the theater atmosphere). The film makers also land incredible shots so you know exactly what is happening at all times.
