Review of S.W.A.T.: Firefight (2011) by Brian K — 15 Mar 2011
S.W.A.T. (2003) was an over the top yet highly entertaining action thriller. It did well at the box-office so I'm surprised that we are only getting a direct to DVD sequel. Gone are the big name stars and blockbuster budget.
Taking a more serious tone than its' predecessor S.W.A.T.: Firefight is a farily well made action thriller. Aside from a few annoying first person shooter shots, director Benny Boom mimics the style and tone of the original film.
The city of Detroit also provides a very interesting visual asthetic for the film. As far as direct to DVD flicks go, this one is above average and definitely worth a look.
