This film is gnawing and surreal and I love everything about it. I have spent all of my time since seeing it listening to the soundtrack (Thom Yorke has the Oscar in my eyes) or unearthing any piece of related media I can get my hands on.

Not only has this movie awakened my creativity as a whole, but it has rekindled my desire to dance ballet again, which is something I used to hate. There is something so inherently unsettling about the bodily torture of ballet (and all elite dance) and the tribal-esque elitism of different schools and I will forever be realising moments of similarity between my experiences in ballet and my experiences of this film.

The sound design is really what that sucks you in from the start - Susie's mother's death rattle is forever looming around you and scared the shit out of me. I have NEVER been this moved by a movie - at first I wanted to leave the cinema when poor Olga was 'dancing', but by the end I wanted to stay past the credits and live in that fever dream of a finalé for eternity.

This is the paragon of what a sequel/prequel/remake should be! Not a showy, superficial revamping, but an exploration of the feelings emitted by the original. I can completely ignore the weaker points in the sub plot(s) due to how bloody moving it was.

Never written a review on here before, but I just had to get my feelings out there - that this is THE movie.
