Review of Suspiria (1977) by Ed Fucking H — 19 Jan 2011
This film is a fucking masterpiece. ATMOSPHERE is what this one is all about and Argento does a terrific job of acheiving a legitamately nighmarish atmosphere that maintains itself throughout. From the score (c/o Goblin), the lighting, the set designs.
... it's all top notch. This one isn't about a huge body count, but the death scenes that are in this are very well done, the highlight being the one towards the begining. Even though those eyes looked kind of silly it didn't take away from the attack.
The story isn't always the most logical, and the characters aren't rreally that dynamic, and many of them aren't really developed at all, also the ending was a little TOO abrupt, but these are minor complaints and didn't affect my enjoyment of the film at all.
Argento created an utterly unique film expiriance here, and if your willing to go on that trip with him you will be rewarded. If not this might not be your cup of tea. Your loss or gain.
