Review of Suspiria (1977) by Emile H — 31 Jan 2018
Unnerving tension is usually the best way to get you on your first viewing. Dario Argento knows that and pulls it very well. The film boasts a colorful lighting and grandiose set designs, but urges viewers to mentally tear away bit by bit.
People die in strange and unspeakable ways, and while the climax comes at you obviously, you realize there is depth to that feeling. It's appealing to look at, but eerie to stay in.
