Review of Surviving Christmas (2004) by Dan S — 17 Dec 2008
Admittedly, there are a few amusing scenes in this Ben Affleck-fronted Yuletide romp but when the general conceit is that money brings you happiness, I couldnâ??t help feeling the innocence of Christmas was lost and the awful side of consumerism was laid bare.
The plot is thus: Ben Affleck is rich but has no family so offers the Valcoâ??s $250,000 to live with them over Christmas. During that period he learns the true value of family while revitalising the love between Mum and Pop team Chatherine Oâ??Hara and James Galdofini through a combination of money, gifts, and high-jinks.
So essentially, lots and lots of money is all a family needs to find happiness â?? what a load of tosh!
