Review of Survival Quest (1989) by Kevin D — 07 Jul 2011
A fairly routine actioner. Devotees of the great Don Coscarelli will find it uninspired when viewed alongside the Phantasm movies, Bubba Ho-Tep, and even Kenny & Company. The plot is as follows: Two competing wilderness survival tours are flown out into the remote Rockies.
One is led by Lance Henriksen, who is a lovey-dovey hippie who preaches the value of positivity and cooperation. The other group is a band of Young Republican nazis led by Rolston. Sooner or later, the nazis start to tear things up and get rowdy, and it's up to Henriksen and his ragtag team to stand up and lay the smack down on these bastards.
The whole thing is kind of like a camp movie: Henriksen and company are your endearing slobs, and Rolston's commandos are your evil preppie snobs. A better cast than such a movie deserves elevates the proceedings.
