Romero's early zombie films are quite brilliant works of social satire, with great acting, effects and action setpieces. He seems to have devolved into mediocrity as he has aged, and his latest zombie flick is on par with the Day of the Dead remake - not a flattering comparison at all.
This is a sloppy, lazy, boring film that lacks the visceral gore and the edgy commentary Romero used to grasp so effortlessly.
