Review of Survival of the Dead (2010) by Harry F — 14 Nov 2010
It's sad to say, but Romero has lost his touch. This film was bad. I'll be honest about it: It is pretty rubbish. The accents are dodgy, the effects are suprisingly shoddy and the characters are uninspired. The thing about Romeros dead films is that at least the first three had two key features: Good gore and a message. This has neither. There's no inspired gore; It's not even more of the same. It's just lousy. A head gets exploded, but it's obviously poor CGI. There's a decent part with a flare gun, that is a one highlight.
There are no good characters in the film. The two irish characters are just dull. There's nothing interesting to say about them. The main solider hero, who's nothing I never even bothered to remember, is another dull character. That's the problem with this film, and the reason I woulsn't recommend it: Everything about htis film is boring and uninspired. Lets hope Romero has another good film in him.
