Review of Surveillance (2008) by Colby P — 14 Sep 2009
I was really looking forward to this one, I even wrote a note for it a while back. Was this worth the wait and patience? Yeah...kinda. Entertaining yes but as a fully developed complex mystery this doesn't quite hold up by the time the end credits roll.
Some of the actiong and editing bothered me as well, some flashbacks were interuptted by the present and the flashbacks - some of them - dragged on a bit too long. Having said all that, I liked the two leads, especially Pullman who can pull off some good quirky or strange moments in pretty true, old schoo,l Lynch style - right on.
Some of the violence and goings on were pretty twisted and weird as well which I also liked a fair bit. This movie was half and half worth the wait, I am glad I saw it, was entertained by what I watched but will probably not check this out again for a while and certainly will not buy it or pay money for it.
A solid rental if you are a fan of these kinds of movies. Thrillers with a twist (even though I called it 30 minutes in) and some sick and strange characters and situations.
