Review of Surfwise (2007) by Miriam R — 10 Oct 2008
A fascinating documentary with an unsettling undertone. Although the beginning of the film presents the Paskowitz clan as some sort of bohemian fantasy--no money, no school, no social conventions--it becomes more apparent that Doc created his own cult, with rigid rules and himself as the alpha male.
Lots of boundry issues, no doubt, with 11 people in a tiny camper, and only 2 females.
