Review of Supervixens (1975) by Dan D — 16 Aug 2007
The best (certainly the most coherent!) of Russ Meyer's Vixens films (and I include Harry, Cherry & Raquel in that for the sake of completness)... Why would a gay guy love a film which is all about pneumatic babes? Well, it's camp as hell for one thing, and in Meyer's films the women are Amazonian ball-breakers and the men are impotent, useless weeds.
I can dig that. These ladies are formidable. The plot, such as it is, is a 'man on the run' road movie with porno logic. Meyer continues the Martin Bormann 'running joke' from BVD, it always gives me a chuckle seeing the Nazi war criminal working in a hicksville petrol station.
Charles Napier is wonderfully seedy as the corrupt cop on Clint Ramsey's tail.
