Review of Supernova (2000) by Stephen M — 25 May 2008
In the distant future a medical rescue ship patrols the neighboring galaxies. The ship receives an urgent distress call from a source that has not been heard from in several years. After making the jump into hyperspace, the crew rescues a loner who smuggles an alien artifact aboard the ship and the artifact holds a secret power that memorizes the crew and terrorizes at the same time. The only hope of survival rests on a doctor with a past linked to the stranger and a former drug addicted co-pilot.
Supernova is a movie that got lost by the bean counters. The movie is simply not as bad as some have panned and not as great as the movie could have been. Supernova does a fantastic job with special effects and supports an average script with good veteran thespians. Supernova could have been better is done correctly, but overall the movie receives two exploding stars out of five for the sheer popcorn action of fun the movie posses.
