The trailers for Supernova made it look like the type of movie that a youngin' like me would have loved. Alas studios thought they were the filmmakers, the movie went through three different directors (Jack Sholder, Walter Hill, Francis Ford Coppola) and the whole movie became one huge mess.

It's not the best movie in the house but it's not a movie to completely despise in my books. The plotline is semi-interesting, the sets and special effects are really impressive and Robin Tunney takes her clothes off a lot.

There is one gory death that stood out for some good times. The cast is pretty good on all fronts. James Spader plays a badass here and pulls it off marvelously. He's really good. Peter Facinelli evoked sympathy as the charming but evil villain.

His performance was definitely my favorite. Robin Tunney takes her clothes off a lot... decent performance. Angela Bassett is a very strong actress and shines in her small role. Lou Diamond Phillips is alright here again and helped me forget "La Bamba.

" Is Wilson Cruz a homo? He sure seemed like it, even though he's supposed to be in love with the female-voiced computer system. He's alright. The director (whomever you are) gave a decent showing with many colorful scenes and amazing sets.

There are also some cool slow-mo shots. Almost every sci-fi expectancy and boo-boo is in this movie. You get the computer voice that almost acts as its own entity, a stupid robot that did nothing but annoy me, a love scene that was so cheesy (flying sex.

.. 'nough said), a really stupid ending and an antagonist that's killed off no problem. What was the point of establishing him as evil again? Word on the street is that the studio wanted to make this a sexual thriller.

Didn't work at all. I have a feeling that this one would've worked with more gore and suspense. See it if you're looking for an amusing sci-fi movie. If you're looking for scares, suspense a space opus or sexy times, this movie is not it.

Tragic, this could've been a great movie.
