Review of Supernova (2000) by David S — 17 Oct 2010
From time to time, you will happen to catch James Spader in a wreck of a film, and it usually is a bit of a surprise. This rather unexceptional sci-fi story is a good example. It might as well be any mediocre action thriller; the only difference is the setting and the special effects.
The plot is full of holes and dangling loose ends, the characters are uninspiring, and the director resorts to sex scenes just a little too frequently. The consummate sci-fi fan may balk at the poorly-conceived technicals and science.
The acting was passable, but just good enough to keep my watching this train wreck until it inevitable jumped the tracks.
