I am less a fan of Superman than I am of movies, but as an artful and nostalgic tribute to Richard Donner's Superman: The Movie and the undying cultural icon in general, this film does its job. It is perfectly pitched, balancing a somber story with the sheer joy of the mythology.
It is one of the best superhero films ever made for its visual and narrative elegance, and a worthy follow-up to Richard Donner's classic.
