Review of Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) by Grady M — 05 Jul 2010
A Superman movie made by red Kryptonite poisoning (for those not in the know, red K has unpredictable effects that last for 48 hours)! Even though they tried to bring back the tone of the first two films, the lame special effects and stupid Nuclear Man as well as Lenny Luthor bring this film down.
Canon films fucked this movie up with their budget-slashing. Where were Superman's comic book enemies?!? Why wasn't there more focus on the love rectangle between Clark, Superman, Lois and Lacy? How can Lacy still breath in FREAKING space?!? And for the love of God, someone please explain why it's daytime in Metropolis, yet it's still daytime in Italy and China? Also, when Nuclear Man attacks the Planet looking for Lacy, why in the name of hell does Superman just stand there and let him put innocent people in harm?!? HE'S SUPERMAN!!!! He'd risk certain death to save people! Still, Christopher Reeve is entertaining as always.
He was the super glue that held the films together, good and bad. Reeve makes the films watchable.
