Review of Superman III (1983) by Matthew M — 04 May 2009
This superman movie was not as good as the original. It did have some good ideas but a lot of annoying little jokes made it more of either slapstick or a comedy then an actual movie. The best parts were how easy it was for Richard Pryor to hack into the computers. It was way too easy for him. The idea of Superman fighting himself was a good idea and they sort pulled it off. The same thing that bothered me not in the Richard Donner cut but the 2nd one by the same director was the pacing was off. Things changed too quickly. People would not have run out of fuel that quickly if the tankers just stopped their destinations.
The half a penny thing was used in Office Space too which was kind of funny to connect it to that movie. The movie is not awful per se but compared to the seriousness and coolness of the movie it was nothing compared to the first two. I like Richard Pryor though I wish his character was explored more. He seemed to be confused because he was not sure ever if he was going to be a bad or not. Kind of like he knew computers but did not know when it was time to quit.
