Review of Superman III (1983) by Mauricio L — 02 May 2013
Director Richard Lester goes all out with the camp and the comedy in Superman III. A megalomaniacal tycoon partners up with a computer genesis and attempts to take out Superman in order to pursue his goal of world domination.
The biggest strength and weakness of this film is its star Richard Pryor. While he has a lot of charisma and his comedy bits are funny, Pryor seems out of place in a Superman film and it sets the wrong tone.
The plot is also particularly weak and is written poorly. Superman III is entertaining and fun, but the cartoonishness undercuts the material.
