Review of Superman II (1980) by Zoran S — 16 Apr 2010

Flawed. You can really tell that this was like shot 50/50 by two different director, with two completely different takes on Superman. The first half of this film moves pretty swiftly, but then about the half way point the plot gets muddled and you get the sense that half of the script didn't get shot.

Yet its still like 2 hours long. What the hell happened in rewrites and Director changes? The villains have the same strengths as Superman, but that doesn't mean they are all that interesting. Gene Hackman must've ditched town when Donnor left, as there are times its painfully clear a stand-in was used instead.

Also even though he has even less screen time than the previous film, you could probably get drunk taking a shot everytime he says "Lex Luthor".
