Review of Superman II (1980) by Jason W — 17 Dec 2012
Superman II is one those films that is great yet had greater potential as seen from the Richard Donner cut. If I had to choose between Richard Lester's and the Richard Donner's Cut. I would take the Richard Lester version any day of the week.
I just missed the super kiss ending which to fit better than the redundant spinning the earth around again to reset time that Donner had in his version. This left a big plot hole and made Clark Kent/Superman coming off as a jerk in his fight with the bully trucker because by that time Superman had erased from history or undone from everything that occurred during movie.
Richard Lester despite having to work between the large ego fights of the producer and Richard Donner creates a fun adventure with a ending that demonstrates the consequences of Superman and Lois Lane relationship.
