Review of Superman: Doomsday (2007) by Brandon B — 02 Dec 2008
I watched Superman: Doomsday, which was just beautiful. This animated film is based on the Death of Superman comic trilogy, and its PG-13 rating warns that this isn't the happy boy scout Superman you'd show to little kids.
There's blood, insinuated sex, murder, and just a lot of dark substance that is very rich in what the comic books were made of. The animation is really amazing, with great cape shapes and shattering buildings, epic battles that Superman is known for, and just the best punches I've ever seen animated.
Written and directed by Bruce Timm, who has been involved with just about all the best DC animations thus far, and with voice acting by stars like Adam Baldwin (Jayne of Firefly and Serenity) as Superman, Anne Heche as Lois Lane, John di Maggio, and James Marsters (Spike of Buffy and Angel), it is no surprise that Superman: Doomsday makes an amazing animated film.
