Review of Superman: Doomsday (2007) by Jonathan C — 03 Aug 2009
Like all DCU animated films, I liked this one. It suffers from the usual fare- too much plot in too short a time. But it features some great voice work, especially on the part of James Marster's deliciously villainous and somewhat sexually tense Lex Luthor, and surprisingly Adam Baldwin- who wouldn't have been my first choice for the role, did a fine job as Supes.
I adored the animation, which was closer to Bruce Timm's usual style than some of the other DCU's but still featured altered enough character designs to separate it from the DCAU. I liked a lot of the dynamic between characters, and while I felt the actual "death" wasn't played up as much as it could have been, the plot was complex and oftentimes action packed.
