Review of Superman: Doomsday (2007) by Jeremy S — 26 Oct 2010
I hate Superman. He's the most unimaginative, boy scout goodie two shoes, cookie cutter superhero ever created. I do however appriciate his one time originality and iconic moments. So against my better judgement, I decided to watch this, assuming it was based on the epic 'Death of Superman' graphic novel.
Unfortunatly, my initial hesitance was well founded. The original source is largly bastardized, and the title is most misleading, as the Superman Vs. Doomsday portion of the film is in the very begining, and lasts about 10 minutes into it.
The animation is suspect, as is its voice work. Outside of the short lived Doomsday battle scene, it is slow moving and unintentionally funny. Hugely disappointing, even though I wasn't expecting anything.
Yep, Superman is still lame. What a surprise.
