Review of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies (2009) by Matthew D — 20 Mar 2016
A pretty perfect first act features top-notch voice work and wonderful writing of the titular friendship and Luthor's rivalry and more than any other representation of DC comics on screen this feels like a fully-formed universe of characters.
However, with so many characters not all of them get their due, and some are treated with particular injustice. The second and third acts sadly do not live up to the great set-up. So much more could have been done than simply create excuses for one fight scene after the other, fights which get more and more silly, but the entertainment value stays high enough to recommend for anyone seeking a fun, if undemanding, ride with the world's greatest superheroes.
