Review of Superhero Movie (2008) by Jonny B — 27 Aug 2012
Reliving many of superhero's greatest movie moments as a way of instigating its gags actually worked on occasions and showed glimpses of the rather funny Scary Movie parody. However, the humour wasn't as consistent sadly and with no original ideas of its own (due to it being a spoof) Superhero Movie does well just to scrape into the two star barrier.
When Rick Ryder (Drake Bell) is bitten by a radioactive dragon fly, he becomes a masked vigilante for his home city. He also targets this as the catalyst for his life turning a corner and bids to win the love of his sweetheart Jill Johnson (Sara Paxton); unfortunately evil forced threaten to tear his love life and superhero life apart and its up to Rick not to let that occur.
In comparison to Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie this is about as funny as Borat! However, in comparison to the best comedies/spoofs their are to view, it's lacklustre.
