Review of Superbad (2007) by J Brigham H — 04 Feb 2013
It's not the most original story by any means, but it's such an irresistibly fine rendering of the familiar scenario that it's difficult to not love it. That said, it's not really for everyone's taste considering the extreme level of profanity, vulgarity, illegality and overall hedonism at play, but you usually know what you're in for when you go into a movie about teenage boys trying to get a bunch of alcohol for party so they can have sex with their inebriated crushes.
But then again, that's not to say that SUPERBAD is without its surprises, which include some positive female portrayals and a sincere heart. Of course, what most viewers are hoping for are the laughs and in that respect, the film delivers healthily and then some.
I suspect most of the humor is more guy-specific, and it ranges from absurd and fierce vulgarity, extreme misfortune and the like, and the gags come fast and furiously with great consistency.
