Review of Superbad (2007) by Parker M — 13 Jun 2013
I wouldn't say that Superbad was super good, but it is one of or the funniest comedies of the summer. It's so funny that it slides into a shiny-good looking three stars. Even though I gave both The Simpson's Movie and Superbad the same rating, I found Superbad to be somewhat more original in its humor.
After all, McLovin is an instant classic; you don't need Matt Groening or Homer to tell you that. On the other hand, we have seen movies like this before, such as Dazed and Confused and Fast Times at Ridgemont High, both involving senior high school students who are desperate for booze and women before the clock strikes graduation.
Also, the cops, as hilarious as they may be, just didn't cut it for a sub-plot. The primary reason I suppose why Superbad deserves the 3 stars is because it is SUPER funny!
