Review of Super Mario Bros. (1993) by Geraldo G — 20 Oct 2012

Yep, it's bad, it's stupid and badly acted by most of the actors. Yep, it's nothing like the videogame. And yes, the story is very...out of context. Yet, why such a high rating like 3 stars out of 5? Because it's very entertaining, watching how bad this is is, well, fun, pure fun.

Also, even if it is very far from the famous videogame, every little reference to it it's laughable, but not awful. Also, if this movie did something right, was the special effects, maybe some of the best for it's time, and also the epic and delightful sets used in this world, damn, the world where the humans evolved from lizards is actually pretty good looking, strange, but that's what makes it so delightful.

As a fan, I am very dissapointed by the movie, but as a simple living being I had fun, and even if Bob Hoskins is trying too hard to be an Italian, he does his classic charming performance along the movie, enough to keep you watching it.

Only recommended for curious fans, nothing more.
