Review of Super Fly (1972) by Aaron R — 18 Aug 2007
A pretty good flick, with a lean, focused plot that never slows down. Not quite as action-packed as the "Shaft" films (the fighting and martial arts scenes are comical, with a surprisingly small amount of violence) but at times better executed.
The film feels much more authentic and less melodramatic than "Shaft" due to more relaxed acting and a less over-the-top plot, and as a result seems to portray the 1970s in a much more realistic way than many of its more famous contemporaries.
And dig that style, turkey!
