Review of Super (2010) by Phil N — 30 Nov 2011
Distraught at losing his wife to another man, Frank (Rainn Wilson) snaps and becomes The Crimson Bolt to tackle local crime - armed only with a wrench. His unorthodox methods win him the support of comic store gal Libby (Ellen Page) and together they attempt to rescue Frank's wife.
Like Defendor, Super is funny but laced with sadness, as our hero's actions are those of a damaged individual whose own actions are somewhat extreme! With a lo-fi feel from director James Gunn, it's a refreshing change from the traditional comic book fare.
