Review of Super (2010) by Kevin G — 26 Feb 2016
An odd tale about a man who has never been accepted in life and decides after he has a vision to become a superhero. Frank's wife who is a recovering addict leaves him for a low-level criminal and this starts him down a road that he is not prepared for.
While the sentiment of good vs. evil is presented here; Frank just lacks much of a moral compass. He spends his evenings fighting crime in whatever form he feels it shows itself and soon befriends a comic book store employee who then joins him in his quest to save his wife.
I suppose the viewer is supposed to feel sorry for Frank and root for his vigilantism but the story lacks the reality of the actions he takes and shows hardly any consequences at all. The acting is good and the story has the right idea but it fails at showing that what Frank becomes is even worse than those who are deemed evil.
